What is the distinction that separates Italian shoes from the rest ?
Most obviously, All Italian shoes should have a "Vero Cucio" embossment directly into the leather sole(usually located near where your arches would be) translating to "Real Leather". It is the mark of Consorzio Vero Cucio Italiano, a trade association whose primary goal is to support and increase the sole leather culture, to train the consumer to be able to autonomously recognize, distinguish and appreciate the quality of genuine Italian sole leather. Leather is the primary materal, though patent, synthetic and exotics skins have been known to be used. Italian shoes are handmade, constructed well, and made to last. They are an investment piece and staple to your wardrobe. They are a timeless classic, show how detailed your style is and truely a polished work of craftsmanship. We can guarantee quality, as well as polished finesse when you step into a pair, the best part is they will last you for a long time. We've had customers tell us our shoes have lasted them over a decade!

The shoes feel a bit tight... Should I get a size up?
Keep in mind shoes will stretch a bit as you wear them. Most places will say that the shoes will stretch out over time in order to get a sale. Don't be fooled, a shoe should fit well right on the spot, especially if you're investing in high end dress shoes. Snug is fine, a little tightness is normal. The key thing you should know is that it should not hurt you, especially since there are half sizes available with Italian and high end footwear. If it is numbing out your foot that is a red flag, it will hurt your feet and getting a half size or size up is generally recommended.
What happened to all of the shoe stores around here?
West 8th street historically has been the go to spot to get shoes, due to changes in traffic and rises in rent many shoe stores have been forced to close and relocate. We are still here though!
What is your return policy?
You have 7 days to return for store credit in the store. For online orders you have 14 days for a full refund or exchange. The difference is because in store you are able to try the shoes on and online orders you cannot. International orders are final and cannot be refunded.

How should a Lucchese Boot Fit?
The boot should fit securely to the foot. Boots should not fit loosely or tightly, but the fit should be snug. The Roper has a more forgiving fit, but the same principles still hold true.

Instep: Unlike shoes with laces, a boot has only the instep to hold it securely to the foot. Consequently, proper fit in the instep is of utmost importance. Boots should not fit loosely or tightly; the fit should be snug. The snugness is governed by the instep fit and the width of the throat. If the instep is too tight, go to a wider or larger size.
Ball: When you walk or run, you bend your foot at its widest part, which is called the ball. In a quality boot, you will find a steel shank between the insole and the outsole that extends from the heel to the point where the ball of the boot begins. If the boot is too short for the foot, the ball of the foot will sit too far forward and force the toes into the toe box.
Heel: A boot must slip slightly in the heel. There is nothing to prevent the heel of the foot from riding up slightly because of the way a boot is constructed. When the boot is new, the sole is stiff. As you wear the boot, the sole is "flexed." With time, most of the slippage will disappear. If the instep is too loose, the boot will slip excessively in the heel. To remedy this, you may need a more narrow width to shorten the circumference of the throat and thus lessen the slippage without cutting down on the length of the boot. Slight slippage is necessary to obtain a proper fit.
